CHAR McKAY
PERSONALLY WORKING AS A CREATIVE PARTNER WITH THE CLIENT TO DESIGN CONSCIOUSLY CRAFTED MATERIALS.
2024

Bristol-based designer, who enjoys producing printed materials in the form of publications, prints and posters. I enjoy working through tactile processes, incorporating crafts and printing techniques into contemporary work.
Through a keen eye for detail, I enjoy curating content and look forward to working on exhibitions to showcase art & design, with previous collaborations with the London-based Travel Things museum, and work featured at the London Design Festival 2023/24.
I studied for a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design at the University of The West of England, with a Distinction Foundation Degree in Art & Design at Oxford Brookes University, where I developed my craft for Letterpress, Silkscreen and Riso Printing, which I love to intergrate into my work.

This publication aims to encourage the public to shop second-hand, to collect and renew unique items. Working as an archive document for the current second-hand shops down Gloucester and Cheltenham Rd. With the increase in online shopping, and the death of the highstreet becoming more apparent, this acts as an ode to the seemingly mundane, sharing an appreciation for these unique stores.

With a silk-printed cut-out cover, bookmarks and riso-printed poster inserts.
